Title: VIN records lookup site
Post by: jdv69z on August 13, 2009, 07:29:40 PM
Have seen an ad for doing a search on VINs.  govdmvrecords.com. Anybody know anything about it, or whether it actually works?

I doubt very much that this is a government web site. If it was a government web site it would most likely be .gov instead of .com. That said, why would they call it govdmvrecords.com other than to deceive people? I took a quick look at the site, there a number of misspellings, which makes me suspicious. Most professional sites use spell-check. I ran a quick whois, and the domain name was registered by a company in Scottsdale, Arizona through GoDaddy.com. If the site is legit, they probably still can not provide info on older cars like first gen Camaros.
