Title: Option ID'ing
Post by: KurtS on July 22, 2009, 05:12:50 AM
I added some info on how to ID which options were originally on a car. Feel free to correct any errors.
http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml#id

Took long enough - I started this back in 2001 or 2002!

Kurt,
Thank you for your time and effort.  My car (68 05C LA RS/SS) never had the dash trim strip. I do not know if it has the Z23 option becuse is does not have the special steering wheel either. It does have the wood grain and bright pedal trim, so i am wondering if  the wood and pedals were stand alone options or if the R/S trim would have added these options and if so would the Z23 option  on a R/S only add the special wheel and dash trim to the interior? I have noticed other 68s that are set up the same as mine. Any body with any input please chim in.
  Thanks to all,
  Victor

Victor, the woodgrain dash was included with the D55 Console as well. The bright pedal trim wasn't available as a stand alone option, but could easily have been installed by the dealer or by a prior owner.

Thanks guys. Took a while to pull together all the info and the pics.

Victor,
Ahh, the 68 dash trim strip. Good eye, a minor detail that just got added to the Z23/Z87 section.
I'll defer all questions about it to Ed. :)

 Hi Guys,
I have not been able to confirm this yet but I'm thinking the Dash trim only came with a N30 or N34 Steering wheel.

I have wondered this and have not seen the N30 option without the Dash Trim. If no one knows if this came together perhaps a survey is in order. Any thoughts on this subject Ed?
Thanks for posting the option info.

No, the dash trim only came with the Z23 (Special Interior) or Z87 (Custom Interior) options. Since the N30 steering wheel was part of these two options (but was also available as a stand alone option), that may be why you're thinking that. It's rare that someone purchased the N30 wheel by itself, but I do have a couple in the database like that (and no, they don't have the dash trim).

The N34 (Sport Styled Steering Wheel) was available with any option or combination of options, so again, that may be why you're thinking that. And I have a few of these in the database as stand alone options as well, and they don't have the dash trim.

Thank You for the clarification Ed. As always it is much appreciated. I will use that as a reminder to get my info to you for the database.
