Does anyone know the color code and maufacturer (or equivalent) for the silver paint used on 1969 Camaro Silver Standard Grilles?
-
PPG code DQE 8568
-
Tried to find the DQE paint under "topcoats" on the ppg website. Can't find anything. Is it discontinued?
Probably a stupid question, but would the same paint be suitable for the ralley wheels on a 69?
Also, when painting the grill (both the surround in body color and the egg crate in silver) any reason to add a flex agent or other additive because it is going on plastic?
Thanks.
I realize it is an old thread, but was the first one that popped up in my search.

The argent silver wheel paint was enamel, and the grille paint was lacquer.

So, is DQE 8568 lacquer or enamel?

You won't, it's just a paint code and not found on any paint company's site. Codes can usually be crossed to whatever paint type you want to use. If the plastic is already painted, just prep and shoot it or use an adhesion promotor (AP) like Bulldog or SEM. AP should be used on new plastic, or if the tech sheet recommends it.
