Title: Correct 1968 AC Compressor Identification

Does any one know where I could find a reference to the correct AC Compressor to install in my 07D Camaro?

I have one installed that needs a rebuild but am not positive that it is the correct one for the car. I would like to verify if either of these would be correct before rebuilding one.

Tag Currently has a blue stripe with the following info:
Code No: 011552
Model: 1131051


I also have another one that looks the same but it came out of a 67 Nova.
Red stripe decal with the following #s
Model: 5910738
Code: 738082392

Also, Does any one know how to decode the casting #s on the rear of the housing?

Any help is appreciated.

Does any one have experience restoring Air Conditioning to original in a 1968 Camaro?

The correct model # is 6550133.
The code # is the date code. MMDDYS - month, day, year, shift.

The original A/C compressor on my 68 RS has the part number 6550133.
I have not had any luck with finding the correct decal for  68 compressor.

I recieved this from Old Air Products after inquiring about the same thing last week. They quoted a reasonable price for a rebuild and would apply the correct markings when complete. I would assume that you could order a new decal with your date code etc applied to it if you requested. Try shooting them an email and let us know what they say.

Yes, we can do a special rebuild and keep the original stickers and date code markings. Cost is $245.00, allow 2-5 weeks turn around time.

Make sure they use the good GM ceramic shaft seal, not the generic aftermarket carbon seal.

Kurts,
Can I assume the correct model # for a 67 is the same (6550133)?
Are all 1st gen decals red & black?
Was wondering is the 67 decal different in size since the muffler bracket goes around the body and would cover the lower red portion  of the decal.
I have seen pictures of the 67 w/bracket and the red portion of the decal is not covered. This indicates to me the decal must be longer, therefor different.

67 is the same part #, but it uses the old style sticker with orange text at the bottom.
I think it was used all year, but I'm not positive....

Anyone have a 5E or later build that can verify that  the old sticker w orange text at the bottom was being used at the end of the year?
What % gloss black was used on the compressor?

What % gloss black was used on the 67 AC compressor ?
Did the compressor get a final inspection OK stamp ?

Try classic auto air in Florida as they can rebuild all of your original AC components

Compressor is in good shape , just need % of gloss black and if "OK" stamp was used in 67.

Semi-gloss black, and the "OK" stamp was used in '67.
