Title: 1968 Z 28 Delco Remy Coil
Post by: Larry on May 26, 2009, 03:42:45 PM
I think I found the original coil for my 1968 Z 28. The number is 723 BR. I was wondering if this is the right one for my 12E car.
Thanks,
Larry

In 1968, all Camaro V8 engines with the standard ignition (without Transistorized Ignition) used the 293-BR Coil. I don't know what the 723-BR coil is for.

Early and mid production Z28's used a 202 coil, have documented this on many cars over the past 30 years.  And I'm not convinced that the 293 was ever used on the '68 Z28, but I have seen some on late cars but can't guarantee they were original.

Jerry is correct on the 202 for the early cars. My 12d fathom blue z has a 202. 298 was used on the later cars and into 1969. My very original 07c 68z has a 298 coil . The car never had its intake off and it still has all of its original plugwires .So when did they change from the 202 to the 298? John  Allouez Restorations
