Title: Heater Box Sealing
Post by: ironhorse on March 19, 2006, 06:46:55 PM
I am putting in a heater box that I had restored and I do not have any kind of gasket to put between the heater box and the firewall.  Is there a gasket available or do you just put weatherstrip sealant (such as 3M) on the mating surfaces?  This is on a 68 Camaro, originally with factory A/C.

According to the AIM, there was a bead of sealer (.38" diameter) run across the length of the A/C housing where it attaches to the firewall. The original stuff is unknown to me (P/N 9985059), but I'm sure 3M would work just fine.

For more info, check out the C60 option, page D1 in the 68 Assembly Instruction Manual (AIM).
