Title: 69 302 engine bearings . What kind?
Post by: 69z28302 on April 23, 2009, 11:50:12 PM
I am in process of rebuilding my 302 and the Machinist recommended Clevite 77 HX . Just wondering what kind of bearings everyone is using? What do you recommend.

Thanks GRG

Mike

I used CL77 in my 302 when I rebuilt it (late 70's); my shop was out of the non-grooved, so I installed grooved mains, although my IMSA-GT racer/engineer/*expert* told me at the time that he preferred the non-grooved.

I've used Clevite 77s since 78 on all SBCs I've built. We are talking a few hundred. Mains should be lower non grooved.

With all the company buy outs, Clevite has not been around for many years.  Seal Power has a version of these bearings.

Thanks for the info Jerry. Can you give me the Sealed Power part numbers that you recommend?

Thanks
