Title: Ash tray door paint
Post by: jdv69z on March 16, 2009, 03:04:54 PM
Is there any spray can paint out there that matches a the black 69 dash? I want to touch up ash tray door. If not what color would be used during a restoration?

Matching is a loose term as it depends on the condition and/or paint used on the rest of dash. PPG9266 is just one I use (gun spraying) or SEM Trim Black #39143 which is available in aerosol and quarts. Rustoleum #7777. Krylon Satin, stick to the enamel based. Someone two threads down suggests Duplicolor at NAPA. Paint suppliers now mix anything you want in aerosol (if they are equipped). Whatever you choose, it "probabably" won't match perfectly.

Thanks, where do  you get the SEM trim Black #39143? I have the Krylon and Rustoleum, and I was going to experiment and compare.

I have my local paint supplier deliver it. Paint supply stores carry it and I'm sure you can get it on-line. I guess guys buy suppies at TCP Global or Autobody Toolmart. Google SEM Trim Black #39143, you'll get info. SEM is nice but more money.
