Here's what my P&A says as of 2-15-69 so the information might not be accurate for your car...
Negative battery cable . . . . . 6291367 (33" center to center holes)
Positive battery cable . . . . . . 6296701 (51" center to center holes)

My understanding is that the batteries changed from top post to side post sometime around May? My Sept'69 Z28 has side posts.
Enclosed are photos of my original side post cables with part numbers shown:

thanks again guys, dont know if my info is correct or not, but i just found out that the small block and big block side post cables were not the same numbers, anybody know if this is true or not? any ideas on the big blocks side post cable numbers and where to get them??
-
The Sept 1970 parts and accessories catalog specifies the same number for all 1969 Camaro (V8) - 2nd design cables (side term). ie....not distinguished for 396 vs Small Block.....
I did notice that for '68 Camaros, the 396 with CAC had a unique number

Lectric Limited (www.lectriclimited.com) makes their cables from the GM drawings, and they show different cables for 307/327/350 vs. 396, both in top-post and side-post designs, for both positive and negative cables. The GM Service cables listed in the P&A are "functional replacements", not necessarily the same as the production-line parts.

You want 6297652 FA (neg) & 6297685 AT (pos) cables.

thanks everyone

Hey can you post some more pics of those original cables particularly the cable mounting to the battery. what size are each head? How long is the negative battery cable?
thank you

Would the following cables be correct for a 12A SB 350: P- 6290592 BR & N- 6296756 BA?
-
No, + BW, - BH.
-
Probably a dumb question but you know me...are the numbers correct? Or, does BW & BH come with their own specific numbers?
Thanx Kurt

The numbers and broadcast code both change together. I don't have those #'s handy.

i was wondering if anyone has original battery cables on their z28`s still ? if so could you please list your part #`s so i can compare them to mine, thanks guys.
-
I think several of us do. I've posted the numbers on mine (side post from Sept '69) previously with photos. See Post #2 in this thread.

I did a little research a while back on the side post batteries and cables since mind were long gone and found the numbers in the 69 AIM. These are what is offered from 'Lectric Limited' as reproductions based on the AIM. My car is an early 06A build. Here is the post discussion. http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/527439/Side_mount_battery_cables#Post527439 from one site and do a search here on 'side post battery cables' and you'll find some info on batteries and cables.

I talked to a member in my local Camaro club and he still has his original cables and they are the same numbers as mine, his are top post as well. I will call lectric and get a repo set. thanks for all the input guys, that is what keeps this site great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
