One on line source that I checked decodes the CJD suffix as:  1971 350 cid; 270 HP, 4BBl; TH350 trans. A or F body application.

T = Tonawanda engine
0222 = Feb 22
CJD = 1971, 350 Hp

The first "1" in the partial VIN# 11N546532 doesn't fit.  Could it be a "7" instead of a "1"?   If it is a "7", then the partial VIN is would be:  71N546532; which would indicate that the engine was originally in a 1971 Camaro; manufactured at Norwood, with VIN sequence #546532.  Since it  was obviaoulsy a V8, the complete VIN for the original car would have been:  124871N546532.  In 1971, the 3rd digit in the VIN (4 in this case) would indicate a V8, the 5th and 6th numbers (71) would have indicated the year.  The first VIN produced in Norwood for 1971 was 500000, so #546532 would have been the 46,532 1971 unit built at Norwood

Above based on the assumtion that the first "1" is really a "7" and not a "1".  If it is a "1", I'll have to defer to others more knowledgeable.

Hi Richard,

thanks a lot, but could this be correct? It donīt seem like a 350-horsepower-engine...

The first "1" in the partial VIN# 11N546532 doesn't fit.

Actually, it fits fine - the '71 VIN derivative used 9 digits. The first "1" is for Chevrolet, and the second "1" is for 1971. It's a '71 Camaro engine.

CJD is a 1971 Full Size, Nova, Chevelle and Camaro 350/270 engine. I can't make out the VIN, so I can't tell you which car it came from, although it appears to be 11N.... so if that's correct, then yes, it's from a 1971 Camaro.

Hi Ed,

"11N" appears to be correct, so it should be a 71īCamaro 350/270hp.

Thanks a lot for your "investigations" in this matter. !

Best regards
