Post by: RS3SDL2MG on February 10, 2009, 03:10:40 PM
I ordered new reproduction door lock knobs for my 67 but when I got them they are plastic  >:( I have a pretty good set of used one's now but would like a new set or NOS set that are metal like the original one's , anybody know where I can find some ? I have searched ebay and all they have are the cheap plastic one's ,,

Correct me if I am wrong, but all 67 door lock knobs were plastic. I still have to original black ones on my car.   ned

As for Camaro's, I have a 67 RS/SS with deluxe interior and the knobs "still original" are chrome plastic, I also have a 67 RS with the standard interior and the knobs are black plastic, have a 68 CST pickup and the knobs are chrome plastic, growing up we had a top of  the Chevy line 69 Caprice and it had chrome plastic knobs. If there was a supplier that Chevy used that produced any in metal we will need more of them to come out of the woodwork, personally I have never seen such an animal, but when I do I will let ya know, ya all chime in here. genminmar

mine are metal , I found an old 67 impala sitting in a field and it had the door's still on it the lock knobs were no good but they were metal , I have an extra 67 door or two up in the loft and again the lock knobs are pitted and not any good but they are metal , I have yet to see a 67 plastic one other than the new repros I ordered ,,,

Yip,Yip,Yip!        I dont know who they outsourced these from but we will be on the lookout in the future, looks like a two piece part with the stem being formed and then a cap sealed around the top. Any others with an OEM car with the originals should certainly respond here!

Just an FYI.... National Parts Depot (NPD) carries both the metal and plastic ones.
I bought the metal ones; they are solid (not 2 piece).

I am sitting here looking at my NPD book and they do not list the metal 67 lock knob's , they only list the 68 up one's
they list a 67 repro part #C-10559-1A but I am gonna assume they are plastic ?

OOPS... my bad.
I assumed they were all the same for 67 thru 69.
