Any ideas on the value of an NOS air cleaner assembly for a 69 Z. Circa 1976. It also has the seal and adapter plate.
-
Is it a flat bottom or does it have a ridge in the bottom.
-
I'll find out. What do you mean about a ridge ? I'm not too familiar with cowl air cleaners

it will either have a flat bottom or a 3/16" or so deep and 3/4" wide or so ridge around the circumference

Looked at the air cleaner today. It is part number 648591. It has ridge around the bottom. The element has a screen with square holes A212CW. The adapter for the cowl seal is part number 3975986 or 06. Is the flat bottom desirable? Or were the originals indented? One more thing the top is Black weren't the cowl hoods supplied with chrome tops?
Thanks Pat

Pat - The original bases were flat on the bottom, and the air cleaner lid was black.

If the square mesh chicken wire 212 has the soldered joints it is worth a bundle on it's own.

Thanks for the info, they must have changed the design of the bottom of the air cleaner pretty early, the box that this ones in has a date of 1973 on it. Back to the original question, what's it worth?

Yes they did change the design early... before the end of 69 Camaro Production.
The NOS element if as I described before (soldered chicken wire style horizontal pattern) is worth a bare minimum of a 200-300... element alone... could be higher if it is the more valuable one... I don't remember which ones really bring the big bucks if it is the diagonal squares or the horizontal ones. I believe the hoizonatal is correct for 1970-71 up... open element, cowl induction most performance air cleaners etc. the value would be the vette and HP camaro aps for the element.
ILast one on Ebay I saw... NOS ridge bottom a/c's go for approx 1500 w/out correct element.
Again this A/C is correct for late (aug or later) 69 Camaro Cowl Induction Solid Lifter Aps and I believe it is correct for 1970 Chevelle solid lifter Cowl Induction Cars as well.

Thanks for the info

My 08C August 1969 build Z has the flat bottom as well.
