Title: Front backing plate
Post by: tinman75 on December 11, 2008, 10:11:48 PM
I was wondering what the original color, or acceptable finish of the front drum backing plate on a 1968 should be.

Were the rear end backing plates painted black with the rear or were they silver cad also?
Thanks

I was a bit confused about the post as I was searching out the color of the drums on a drum brake car, so some clarification please. From what I understand after reading; the drums are to be painted black front and back(mine is a 68), but the front backing plates are plated where as the rear backing plates are black along with the axle assembly? Thanks

Hadn't gotten a response and continued to dig through pics, posts, and those being sold and just for reference if someone is seeking this info in the future, the backing plates on the front were plated for disc brakes. But drum were black backing plates. Thanks
