Title: Quality of the 1969 Camaro repro tail pan?
Post by: sdkar on November 24, 2008, 09:17:22 PM
Hey guys,

It looks like I am going to have to change out the rear tail pan on my 69 Camaro.  This is the panel that has the trunk lock and the tail lights installed in it.  I have seen older repro tail pans that do not have the bevel lip around the taillights like original.  Have the repros out there gotten any better?  Are there different repros made, such as Goodmark versus whoever else.  What is the overall quality of the fit and look of these?  I see there is a US made one, but at $500, I am looking see if I can get a repro panel that is better than what I already have.

Friend of mine replaced almost all the sheetmetal on a 69 RS Z last year ("Impressive Metalwork" thread on TC).  Most of it wasn't too bad with a little work, but he said that if he had to do it over again, the one thing he would do differently and pay the money for would be the tail panel.  Either go GM or the piece that HBC offers.
