I bought an apparent NOS stove pipe for my engine but its about 3/4" too long. Did automatic cars equipped with ZL2 ducted hoods, get the same stove pipes as standard four barrel air cleaners, or was it a different part. AIM only shows standard.

The ZL2 stovepipe with automatics was different. Look in the AIM, section M35, sheet A22 - shows 3942530 for the base 2-barrel automatic engine, and 3942531 for the 4-barrel automatic engines. ZL2 shows 3951636 for L-48 automatics with ZL2.

Thanks for the information John. I always feel fortunate to hear from you. Now I know why it doesn't fit. I'll bet this is going to be a tough part to find.

Bill, if you still have the heat stove pipe please contact me. Les

I used a 2-barrel one and reshaped the bottom end . (http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f58/markx22/silver%20RS/th_DSC00847.jpg) (http://s45.photobucket.com/albums/f58/markx22/silver%20RS/?action=view¤t=DSC00847.jpg)

Thanks Mark. That may be an option. I'm hoping Bill will reply whether he has the part he couldn't use. The same part was used from '69 thru
'81 & yet they're tough to track down.
