Title: spindle length

I see adds for taller spindles to improve handling. I remember seeing ads years ago for spacers to do the same thing. All the ads I see for the tall spindles are also drop spindles which I'm not really interested in. Has anyone used the spindles, or the spacers and what is your opinion.  Are the spacers still available?

I bought a pair of 2" drop tall spindles to lower my car and they also told me it improve the front wheel geometry. This is correct because its similar to the Guldstrand midífication but in my case it was impossible to use this spindles because of interference with the steering control arm scratching the inside of the rim. To answer your question there is tall ball ball joints to replace the ones on the upper control arms.

I have Pro-Motorsports 1-15/16" tall bolt-on spindle extenders on my car, but I'm a sorry SOB b/c it's still not on the road after all these years!

I wish Heidt's would make their raised forged dropped spindles NOT DROPPED b/c that is just what 1st Gen's need!

NPD sell 2" drop spindles (C-6020-12A) which I believe are better than the 70's Camaro spindles with their integral caliper brackets and steering arms On a 67, these also cause the Delco Moraine calipers to foul againt the rubber bump stops whhich is a fairly huge oversight IMO, considering everyone is selling them for all 1st gens.

EmaunualK:The 2" drop will help handling by lowering the car's CG and reducing bump steer with lowered springs, but not the same as a Guildstand modification because the upper A-arm is still pivoting on the same arc. Even adjustable upper A-arms and/or relocated upper ball joints are still limited by the position of that pivot point. :)

As I understand it, the 2" drop can cause clearance issues with some wheels. The tall spindle alters the suspension movement similar to the Guildstrand mod, but works by raising the ball joint height instead of relocating the upper control arm mounting location. While some vendors offer a taller spindle, the only ones I have seen offered also feature the 2 " drop. I would be interested to know of any tall spindles available without the 2" drop.
