Title: Mono/Multi Leafsprings?

Hello i'm a newbie here. I was wondering why some Camaros came with mono leaf springs and some with multi. I was thinking it had to do with h.p. ratings and such but I have seen 12 bolt rears with mono leafs so that can't be it.
