It says "NOS CAM, 1178 CRANK,  RODS,  PISTONS,  NOT INCLUDED".  I think this auction is just for the block.

I know this an old post but I had to add to it.

Wow. The 512 block I have is 10 before this one 19N518336 and V1003DZ It's an orphan. Hey Kurt did I ever add this to the orphan list? I can remember, it's been a long time now.

What's the 512 refer to? I thought block casting 386 at this time?

There is a small write up on this block casting. Check out this link. Read around the bottom of the block casting write up. There really hasn't been anything more on that casting number.

Interesting. My 386 block cast date is I 10 8; Assembly date is 0912DZ. Vin 516355. we're pretty close to each other. So your block no. pops up every now and again. Wonder how often that happened? Yours is an orphan? Maybe I should adopt in case I ever need a replacement block.

Hey Mods, I hope I didn't over step here.

Gary

The 512 block was a generic service block that was used for several years. And some days it made it into production too....

Hey Kurt. I put this block up for sale in several places and I've been getting a lot of hate mail. One person even said to stop fooling myself because it was a 1980 305. Is this thing not as sellable as all the other DZ blocks? I need to find out something so I am 'NOT' fooling myself. I'm not even asking much for it.

Don't know what to say. It's a real stamp. People expect it to conform to what they know. But they need to read more.
Point them to this thread. :)

I have added the links to here and T.C. It's like that old saying, "You can lead a horse to water".....

Gary, the link you posted is the 69 orphans, so I merged your thread with this one.

Thanks Ed. I can't remember if I posted anything on this years ago when I first acquired it or if Kurt did when I sent him these pics. Not that it will make any difference anyway. It seems like this block has the plague. I may have to use it for something else.
