I have a 67 Royal plum ...4speed SS/RS 350........Its been a race car pretty much all its life......It has 54,000 miles..So..?? what would it be valued at $$$ If I put it back to STOCK.......? Considered NO Numbers match..??
-
...buehler..??? anyone...?? anyone...??? Buehler...??
-
...Does anyone know..How many 67 SS/RS 4 speed ....Royal Plum cars are still around..??
-
I'd say it's pretty rare. I've seen 2 Royal Plum Camaros ever. Both were plain Jane 6 cyl. cars. I would put it back to stock if I were you. I have no idea of its' value.
-
...I hear yah....Its just that its been a locally STREET RACED CAR for 30 years........And it just has that VIBE about it...It has nitrous Under the dash, Spray bottle in the trunk that sprays the back tires....Purge button on the wiper switch...Automatic Bottle opener, heater, and the best part is..it has..NO CAGE with full interior...It just has that OLDSCHOOL FEEL to it.. which i love..? But..I dont street race that much anymore.But.? i really would like to see her put back to stock too..?? decisions...decisions...decisions...
-
I believe CRG says only about 3% were plum. Today it seems to be a color thats liked more than back then. There are a lot of late model cars close to that color today The royal plum L78 car on CRG home page is mine
-
Okay..?? Im gonna ask a stupid question since Im new here.. Wheres the home page and the pic of your car..??
-
You said only 3 %..?? were plum...?? Does that include ALL 67 camaros..??

....Humm..?? everytime I see the Royal Plum.....It looks different everytime. How old is your paint....and what was used as a BASE COAT..?? That color is really startin to grow on me....and Im definitly leaning more,to get my car back to that color...
-
666 I have a body shop and had the paint made to match my cowl cheeks under the fender that were like new. I also had a spare plum rim that was like nos and it matched the cheeks too. It is PPG DBC base. If you just give the paint store the M code and have them mix the paint the color will be wrong. Thats why the all look different. Most orig. colors mixed with todays formulas don't match.

...I know a local guy near me, ...has a '67 RS/SS painted in black primer, ...just a hot rod so to speak. As per the tag, ...the car is indeed an RS/SS 350, ...Royal Plum 4sp (deluxe parchement interior). He has no plans to go original, ...but I have to tell ya', ...if you did consider going back to original? ...I would definitely go with the Plum, ...very cool color...
-
..I made up my MIND...It s............TIME to put 'er back to STOCK...[ kinda].....Ill put it in the body shop after my 72 trans/am gets out, from gettin done...[ January..???
-
I have only seen one in person and I love the color. If you are willing to do the work, it is never wrong to go back original, especially this one. Definitely a very rare color. My 67 Vert has the blue top option and although a white top might look better I want to keep the rare options alive.

I have a 67 Royal Plum with a White Vinyl roof SS350 that is non-numbers matching as is yours. I had been told when the market was a bit higher than what it is now, that my car would bring anywhere from $28K to $33k if I was to sell it at that time.
Not to be disheartening, but if you don't have the "original numbers matching engine, tranny and 12 bolt rearend the way prices are going now, you may end having more dollars put in the car than what it is worth.
Just my opinion and best of luck on your decision!!!!!!!!!

The are some pictures of the little Hoss Z/28 drag car in original 67 Royal Plum before it was painted red
on the Fred Gibb web site in history section

-
.....Thank you...and now in that PIC..?? the color looks a LIL DINGY to me..?? Its a very MOODY kinda color........It has its GOOD and BAD Days......The light has to hit it a certain way for it to....POP...!!
-
there are a bunch of cool pictures on the Gibb site.
Royal Plum looks almost like black in some of the pictures
-
That pic on the Fred Gibb site looks kinda dark....but what do I know....
Royal Plum grew on me after having it, especially with the parchment (white) interior. Classy looking. Gets lotsa comments at car shows & cruise ins. I originally wanted Bolero red on red, or Tuxedo black. FWIW....
Gratuitous R.P. pics: ;)

...So..?? ARCH..?? your car is an Original Plum car..??
-
No, it's not origionally MM. I built what I wanted. I've had this since '83. Took years to decide on a color. Complimented on color often. "Different" they say. Doing an origional '68 Code 00 now. Not 50K cars but they work for me. And I drive them...often.
I don't post pics often so this may not show the size I want. We'll see.

..I hear yah....I like clean cars but not TOO CLEAN......It just takes the FUN OUT of it when yah gotta worry all the time...I have a 69 H/O thats pretty clean, but it does have some scratches but..I like it that way....(http://www.delvalracing.net/board/uploads/post-29-1224536445_thumb.jpg)(http://www.delvalracing.net/board/uploads/post-29-1225580996_thumb.jpg)(http://www.delvalracing.net/board/uploads/post-29-1225581385_thumb.jpg)

You are in the time frame when there were 4P l78s. Being you say it was a race car. You may want to check for sure. Does it have all the correct small block parts like motor mounts and crossmember & rad.
-
Arch Stanton....I thought it was the grave next to your's?
-
Motor mounts..?? wouldnt they just be small block motor mounts..?? and the cross memeber never really fit right with the t-400 in it...The holes were slotted.....as far as rad..?? It is a stick shift rad...[ no tranny cooler lines]......
-
Arch Stanton....I thought it was the grave next to your's?
He-He!
You are correct!
....there's just some scary lookin' guys with guns standing around me arguing about bags full of somethin'........haha......
-
666 what I'm saying is chevy started building 396-375 horse power cars in the same time frame as your car and the first few were 4P coded. Being you said it was a race car most of its life it might have started life as a 396-375. Is the rad. a small block( 21") and do the heater hoses enter the fire wall behind the head. If so it more than likley is a small block car
-
Welp..the heater box was long gone.....But what I do know about the 4 P is that it was a small block car..?? No..?? and what size would the Big block rad be..??
-
..So..?? a 4P..Doesnt necessarily mean its a SMALL BLOCK car..?? if it was built in that time frame..?? Cause if thats TRUE...cause from when i first bought the car.the emblem holes were all covered up with Bondo.....and when i popped the trunk..they had all the emblems in the trunk.......But 1 STOOD OUT....?? the GAS CAP only said.." S S "..with a cable..and not the one I thought it should be the " SS 350 Cap "..?? unless they just replaced that a long time ago...
-
There are other tell tales of a BB. Doesn't the speedo cable exit the firewall a differant place then SB? And the front springs if they still have their code? Front A-arms? Rear springs? A plum BB would be great in my book.
-
..Front springs have been changed..Back springs..?? humm..?? not too sure bout them..They are Mono leaf but......It has a OLDS/PONT rear in it now......As far as SPEEDO Cable..??Any pics..?? Description??
-
Frame mounts may tell you. Are the both the same height?
Also, you can look for original black paint on the tailpan.
-
Is there a gas line clip on the rear bolt of the right side motor mount stand or is it on the frame next to the stand
-
..frame mounts..?? You mean where the body bolts to the frame in the front..??[ front clip]..?? ..Black paint..?? Humm.the car has been painted....Is there a pic of a factory OVERSPRAY somewhere?? Fuel Clip..? I ll take a look at that when i get a chance..But...Can a 4P car be a big block car though???
-
3/8 fuel line too, instead of 5/16, right?
-
...Fuel lines ?? I dont remember seeing any fuel lines on the car......But..?? It appears to have the original tank still in it...maybe if I drop the tank..and see if they cut and left some of the old line on it
-
666 you are confused. Call me on my cell and i'll explain what you need to look for. 302-250-8751 I'm just down in Delaware. Kerry
-
....Thanks Kerry..For the INFO ..Very helpful...Now Im just sittin here..TAPPIN MY FOOT wonderin if i should take a ride to my garage and check the frame mounts...lol..
-
..Well..I checked the frame mounts and they are for a ..SMALL BLOCK...!!
-
But they unbolt, could have been changed. What about the other stuff?
