Title: original small block spark plug heat shields
Post by: john302 on September 17, 2008, 01:40:59 AM
I am going to replate my original heat shields for my 68z,what is more correct  silver zinc or silver cad.The repops are galvinized which I believe is incorrect.Siilver zinc might be alittle to bright. The nos ones that I have seen look silver cad plated? What is more durable cad or zinc? Thanks John

The D&R repros are right on the money.  Use them.  There are at least two vendors making them.  Old repros were galvanized, originals were either plated cad or zinc.  The good repros also have two welded shields and two that require screws........just like the originals.

Refresh on this one MANY years ago.  I searched D&R and it doesn't look like they're selling them anymore.  Could someone please post the latest best examples?
