My Z28 has a 2nd week of August build so could this be the cars original axle?? How close do the casting dates run to the cars build on rear ends???
-
That's quite a spread,Do you have the protect-o-plate ?I have a Nova that has long spread but the POP verifies it .
-
Gear ratios can also deteremine the time window on these cars.

The axle code Jerry is PC 1129 G (3.31, nin posi, Nov. 29th, Detriot) Right? K 21 8 is the cast date 3894860N cast number thanks
-
That's a 67 axle, so a little too early for your car. ;)
-
K 21 8 stand for K being November, 21 the day, and 8 being 1968??
-
PC in 69 is a 2.56 10 bolt.
The 8 in the date is probably a 6.
-
PC code for Non - posi Axle was for 12 bolt 69 cars I found the info on this site last week, but i will check the number 9 again, it is easy to read because the axke has non dirt or grime and fresh paint thanks! I will check it again.

Samanatoo,
Decoding can be confusing... and Chevy and their suppliers used interesting and varying systems of id...
You have to read the chart all the across on the CRG Drivetrain Decoder. The 69 #s are in the right hand columns. Look here:

Colvin verifies Kurt's decoder about 69 PC axle on page 314 of Chevrolet By the Numbers, 1965 - 69.
Kurt,
Thanks for what you and all CRG do! This thread made me go back and re-read your decoder info. again. I learned quite a bit!

I see what you mean in the far right colum and it goes by model year for the car not the calender tear. I just looked at the number 8 and it sure does look like an 8 but I guess it could be a 6, but it looks more like an 8. So they did make this PC code axle for 1966???
