Post by: Northstar on August 13, 2008, 09:33:16 PM
Can anyone give me some insight on how to remove the wiper arms on my '69 Cmaro?

Thanks.

There is a removal tool that KD Tools makes to remove these arms.  I don't have a part number for you.

Thanks Jerry.  Is the tool the only method for removal?  Can it be done with any commen tools I may have around the shop?

Thanks,
Chris

You risk paint damage to the cowl vent panel (and the arm flying across the room) using screwdrivers to pry them off. Much better idea to use the $6.00 wiper arm tool, which makes it a snap to remove them and install them in seconds - any decent auto parts store has them.

Get the tool.

Years ago, I pried mine off using a long screwdriver on a piece of wood so I didn't dent the cowl vent panel.  The driver's side disappeared!  That is, until it landed on the hood...

Get the tool. The time spent trying to do it without the tool is worth more than the cost of the tool.

BTW what's the little tiny piece of metal for that goes in the wiper arm slot?  Is that supposed to hold it on the wiper stud?  One of mine was loose and fell out.  I have it but I can't get it to stay.
