I am in the middle of restoring my car and just finsihed restoring the front brake calipers. The car has 36K miles on it and the original front and rear brake lines were on the car. The front lines seem to be ok but the rear lines are shot. I started looking at what the usual after market shops had to offer for front brake lines and noticed the lines are not even close to the originals. The bracket to hold the line to the sub frame is not even on the brake line. Can someone suggest a supplier for oriiginal style brake lines or should I just suck it up and use 39 year old front brake lines provided they dont leak? The lines look good.

Are you talking about the steel brake pipes or the rubber flex hoses? The front brake pipes never had a bracket of any sort as part of the pipe; the brackets on the subframe were separate bolt-on parts.

The flex hoses have a clip/bracket that attaches to the upper a frame or the subframe. I would have to refer to the AIM to be sure. But the flex hoses that I have seen do not have this clip on the flex hose.
Sorry I was not clear earlier.

That clip is seperate from the flex line. The flex line does have a copper collar on that point of the flex hose, but not the clip itself.

That is the type of flex hose I am looking for. The one with the collar on it with an attaching bolt.

You've sparked my curiosity. I have ordered these from different vendors and they have come with the correct collar. Even my local parts store. However it seems now that 2 vendors do not show collar in the catalogue any longer. Rick's First does show collar. You will have to call to verify product description depending on which vendor you prefer. It may depend on their supplier and the catalogue picture update. Regardless, the major vendors are not the only way to obtain parts. You may try: Master Power Brake

I just received a pair from Camaro Central last week and they have the collars.

The front brake flex hoses used on cars with standard drum brakes and power drum brakes didn't have the collar; when you ordered J52 power disc brakes (or JL8 4-wheel disc brakes), the front brake flex hoses had the collar, and the wrap-around clamp (around the collar) that screwed to the rear surface of the upper control arm.

Thank you John. I haven't had to purchase a set for drums in years and your explanation clarifies the pics dispayed by vendors.

Perhaps the vendors pictures that I was looking at were only displaying drum brake options.
I will try Master Brake.
