Title: 621 bellhousing is there a quick way to check....
Post by: opelitis1 on July 31, 2008, 07:03:39 PM
Have a 621 bellhousing and everything looks great incl. the overspray from back of block but, and ain't it my luck, there appears to be a surface crack mebbee 1 to 1.5 inches  in length near one of the bolt holes... Do I magnaflux the beast or will a simple water spraying test suffice??  I know the water can not simulate the torque that must go on in the various shift points, but, any opines?
Thanks!!!   Ted

if it is cracked, weld it up and it should be good to go.

Unit is going to E_Bay in Sept. and I don't want to, if I don't have to, weld her up..  B'housing is perfect except for this possible light surface crack/deep scratch..  Don't like the fact it is coming from or going to a bolt hole..  A simple water test would not simulate how much torque was applied to the fastener and what happens when things start to heat up...   Mebbeee it is magnaflux time!!!   Ted
