Title: correct 69 Decklid
Post by: Z1169Weaver on July 23, 2008, 01:26:18 AM
I have a 69 Convertible that I'm trying to keep as correct as possible and need to know what decklid should be used? The date of my car is 03D. Should the lid have the tabs or w/o tabs on the underside lip that meets the tail panel?

My 02D car has the weld tabs. I believe the non-tab lid started in March/April, but I don't have a solid date for the transition - someone else will chime in with better info.

John,

I think the non-tab deck lids started showing up in late May into June.  The 05A survivor that I had did have the tabs.  Spoiler mounting nuts also changed in May of 1969.

My 04L trunklid with a run code of T19 (I think - I'll look tonight) stamped into it doesn't have tabs, and it does have the 4 bolt holes in it for the T/A spoiler.

The tabs hold the inner structure to the outer skin. Just missed showing if they are there in your pic. Try again showing the top (rear) edge.

Kurt,

Sounds like a good candidate for a Research Topic ( decklids, rear spoliers, spoiler fasteners, etc... ).
