Title: Date codes on 67 wheels?
Post by: camaro cat on February 09, 2006, 04:00:24 PM
I am looking for some rally wheels for my 67 RS built 10C at LOS. Were wheels always date coded or is there a possability that early wheels weren't? If GM was date coding wheels thru all of the 67 model year any idea when that practice may have started?

The original rally wheels that came with my 11E LOS 67 rs have no date codes. They are 14 X 5 which is correct for a disc brake equipped, non SS, 67. They are stamped DA next to the valve stem.

Thanks. Your code is what I thought was right for a non SS car. No date codes might make finding a set of 5 easier. Is your car disc brake or power disc brake?

My car has manual disc brakes. Here is a picture of a DA wheel with a repo F70-14 tire. These tires are a bit too wide for these skinny wheels. My trim rings and caps are original.

'67 wheels were dated, but the dates are stamped on the interior of the rim, under the tire; can't be seen with a tire mounted.
