Got stirred up studying 68 options. And realized i have never seen much on the cowl plenum air cleaner assembly on 68 Z28's. looking for anything on this....especially pictures!!...any special time perion it was offered? ANYTHING....saw someone selling a base on eBay for like $1,000...man thats friggin crazy....but it sparked my interest on this option.

Here's a '67Z plenum setup.

Thats exactly the stuff im looking for....did the cowl have to be cut for the intake?...BTW...JohnZ is this your car? Whos ever it is...its a nice engine comp!

Yes, the front plenum wall had to be cut out; not my car - belongs to Al Maynard.

Here is a photo of a 67 and a 68 cowl plenum air cleaner base. The 68 has the indentation for AIR pump clearance.
Also a photo showing a typical firwall cutout for the cowl plenum air cleaner.

Here is the 67 and 68 cowl plenum air cleaner base. I didn't get it attached to the previous post.

is that an origional cut out on the pic above?

According to Jerry MacNeish's 1967-1968 Camaro z/28 Fact Book the cowl plenum option was not installed at the factory. Instead they were shipped in the trunk with cutting and installation instuctions for the installer (most often the selling dealer). I'm certain all dealers didn't follow the provided instuctions identically. So even though the photo above shows an original cut out, it more than likely will be different than other original cut outs.
