Title: Drum Brake problem - help requested.
Post by: abozny on May 30, 2008, 05:38:35 AM
Hi, yesterday I took my Camaro out for a drive for the first time in 6 months. The rear right drum locked up during the drive and the drum and rim became very hot. I went home.

The drum is now locked. I checked the parking brake cable and it is loose. I assume that the pistons in the wheel cylinder are stuck - maybe from corrosion / lack of use over the winter?

How can get the drum off to get to the brake internals?

Thanks for your help.
Allen.

Sounds like you have a bad hose. Release the pressure by cracking open the bleeder valve and you should be able to get the drum off.
