What is the correct leaf spring finish on a 69 Z .While stripping I found evidence of black runs like they were dipped. Also there are no plastic pads installed between the leafs but the stamped pockets are there to retain them .Steve.

The springs were natural heat treated finish. Tha pads are long gone, but can be purchased at a good spring shop.
-
The plastic eventually works it way out of the springs. My car has 36k miles on it and the plastic is still between the springs but has started to come out.

Thank you for your replys.Steve.

Has anybody had any luck finding the anti-squeek pads ? Eaton detroit spring said they don't have them and can't get them .Steve .

When I "REBUILT" [Disasy, Blast, Prime, Paint, New Center bolt, New pads, Press in new bushing, & Assemble], my original 5 leaf (68) springs. I found that I had to search for local spring shops and encountered sourcing issues with the black plastic 'PADS'. Eventually found a shop in seattle that had some laying around 0.50$ each.
My advise is to ask around your area shops and see if they have any.
I was under the impression they were avail as part of the Camaro rest vendor rebuild Kits for 50$ a few years back?

Were the plastic square pads at the end/between each leaf there from the factory? Have seen them on rebuilt/replacement springs, but Ive never found any on original springs, have always seen wear marks between the springs as if there was never anything between then?
Anyway, theyre available in the clamp, pin, and silencer pad rebuild kit from Ricks, RC-454, 455. If someone needs some, I have a 5-leaf set of them that I won't ever use.

My 10 C 68 LA car has them. They are worn but there. Jeff

If they are about 1/16" thick in between each leaf - then they are still in between the leafs on my 69 SS with over 232000 miles
-
My springs don't have the pinned clamp the clamps were spot welded to the springs,at least that is what it looks like. Also it does'nt look like they ever had the plastic installed cause theres no room, the band is tight.I was wondering if anyone else has this same situation?

My 69 Z has the pads between the springs. They are all there and intact but one. If you need pics let me know.
-
If its no trouble a pic. would help.I understand there are two styles,is this true?
-
Dont know about the styles.
I will look through my pics on the computer. If I dont have one I will go over to the painter's shop and snap on for you and get it out.

I have seen the liners that went the entire length of the leaf and I have seen them that were only on the ends where the leaf tips were... I would venture to guess that both types were used...
