Title: Fuel pump location

Hey everyone,
      I am the owner of 69 camaro with a fuel leak. I had fuel in the oil filter  last time i changed it and have been told the pumps are notorious for failing on older chevys. My only issue is I dont know where to even look for the pump to check if its leaking. It has a 454 big block in it atm, everything else is stock. Thanks for any help you can offer.

The mechanical fuel pump is bolted to the right front corner of the engine block on both small and big block Chevys.  You can see the fuel pump's location on the attached photo of the famous small block 302...

Follow the fuel line from the carb. The pump will be on the side of the block.

Thanks Tom and Paul. As far as the book goes, I have a book, but 454 wasnt an engine option for the car, so engine help is sketchy.

The 396 (1969 RPO L-34, L-35, L-78) was configured exactly the same as a 454; if you get a '69 Assembly Manual, those options will show how the big-blocks were configured in a '69.

If the fuel pump is leaking gas into the oil, you could have bigger problems than finding the fuel pump! You can't see gas leak into the engine because the internal diaphragm fails in the fuel pump and that's how the gas gets into the oil. And no...the pumps aren't notorius for failing...it's a freak occurence. Good luck!
