I just purchased a numbers matching SS350 3 speed. I have read that they only made 3079 cars with a 3 speed, however that included SS cars and LM1 cars. Are there any figures on how many SS350's were produced? I do know that I'm going to put a 4 speed in it and put the 3 speed aside. Also change the gearing. It's quite the dog with the current combo.

The SS 350 with a 3-speed was not a very common combo. There is no way to know for sure just how may were built. In CRG's data base we show that about 3% of the SS 350's had 3-speeds. If this number is representative of the actual production that would mean that under 900 of the SS 350's had 3-speeds. If I had your car I would leave the 3-speed in the car just for the being different factor.
I would like to get your cars data for our data base if possible. Not many of the 3-speeds have survived. If you would like to help, e-mail me or post the data hear.

I have one too... 1967 SS350, factory 3 speed with the column shift. Previous owners installed a 3 spd Hurst shifter. I still have the original column, but the linkage is long gone.

A friend owned a Chevy dealership back then; I have copies of the '67-'69 Camaro paperwork.
3 of the '69 Camaro SS they stocked were 3 speeds. One of them also had a ducted hood and wheel covers, a really odd combination of options.
If the VIN of your car ends in 577, 347 or 970 I could have good news.
A truly rare 3-speed known to the CRG is a documented 325/396 69 Camaro SS, unfortunately no longer in that configuration.

Could you post some more of the info on your car? options? I have a SS350 muncie 3speed also and I'd like to compare. Also, when you take the 3speed out I'd be interested in buying it if you would sell it. ;)

Car is a base preX code car. No options. Not planning on selling the transmission. It is numbers matching to the car so I'd never part with it.

I have a 69 LM1 with the three speed muncie under a frame on resto right now. My first car was a 69 Camaro, 307/3 speed console car. Man that three speed was fun! I am with the other guys, leave the three speed in!

My first '69 SS350 was originally a 3 speed car but it already had a saginaw 4 speed installed when I got it. I yanked that crappy trans out and installed a muncie with a new Hurst shifter real quick. I never had the joy of driving it with the 3 speed. The car is to supposed to be in the Athens, GA area and I still keep in touch with the guy that has the original 3 speed for the car. I'd love to reunite the matching number trans to the car.
