Title: Z87 Option on BB with Cowl Induction
Post by: no69x-44 on March 20, 2008, 04:29:29 AM
Looking at the AIM it appears that in 1969 cars that came with the Z87 option got lights under the hood as part of the package.  Small Block V8's (and I'm assuming L6's) had 2 lights under the hood were as the Big Blocks got only one light under the hood and it place in a little different place then either of the 2 lights that came with SB.

Now what about BB cars that came with the Cowl Hood or Cowl Induction.  Did they not get a under the Hood light as part of this package? I can't see were one would put said single light under the hood of a BB Cowl Induction car.  Can some answer this question?  If an under the hood light did fit in there somewhere ... any pics?

Thanks in advance for any and all information.

The underhood light was only available as part of the ZJ9 Auxiliary Lighting option - it wasn't tied to or included in any other option package, and the underhood light wasn't available by itself.

When ZJ9 was ordered, there was only one underhood light, although there were four different locations - one for L-6 and 396 without A/C, one for 396 with A/C, one for small-block V-8, and one for the ZL2 hood option. The only reason that RPO Z87 is referenced in the title block on sheet A2 of the U26 option in the assembly manual is that Z87 included the hood insulator pad, which affected the installation; Z87 didn't include the light.

Z87 included hood insulation with the standard hood. All ducted hood cars and SS [I believe] had insulation regardless of interior.

I thought trunk mat was deluxe interior inclusion. Are you sure it was included in Z87 in 69?

RPO Z87 IS the Deluxe Interior for '69, and it included the trunk mat.

It would only have an underhood light if the car had the ZJ9 Auxiliary Lighting option.

Whoops I got my Z RPO's messed up. I was thinking Z23, isnt that the woodgrain accents on the wheel, and half of the dash? and bright trim on the pedals? Thats what I was thinking of.
