Title: subframe assembly date coded?
Post by: ccargo on October 20, 2005, 01:28:13 AM
Found a stamped number on the subframe of a 04A 67 this week. Didnt really hit me as anything special untill I realized it was the same date as the rear axel 0330 G2 with no prefix obviously. Did the front subframe get stamped when it was assembled? I've seen the painted date codes before but not this. It is in a spot you wouldnt see unless the subframe is out from under the body. Great to be back with Ya'all

I didn't know there were any stamps at all on the subframe.  Could you tell me where you found the stamp?  I was wondering on my car if the subframe was original to the car so a date stamp would help me verify this.  Thanks!!

It is located on the top of the driver side frame tube about six inches back from the first mount at the firewall. You're gonna have to pull the subframe to see it :-\ I will get a shot to you as soon as I can Kurt. I'm fighting a wicked chest cold.
