I'm getting ready to work on the paint color on the interior of the car. It has a dark green interior. The question I have, is the column supposed to be green or black? It looks like it was painted or swaped at one point. There is green paint pealing with black paint pealing as well .

The steering column should be green.

Thanks Ed,
I kind of thought it would be green. I looked a little closer last night, the green peel is over the black. I'd bet that someone swapped out a tilt column and put in the straight one that's in there now.
Since I have not started to look for the materials yet, have you any idea what the paint is to use and where to get it? It's not exterior paint, something satin. I seem to remember something on this site about a topic of that nature.
Thanks again, Joe

I'm not very familiar with paint and associated mixes. I have done some interior touch ups w/paints from Rick's and our local Camaro store with nice results, but have never repainted an entire interior. Hopefully some one with more experience will chime in.

Thank's Ed, I'm sure someone has a paint code for a body shop supply house to match the dark green color and sheen The Rick's catalog just came in yesterday's mail. I have not looked for a long time but I think all they have is the paint to redo plastiic parts. I'll check though.

Go to www.autocolorlibrary.com and key in "Chevrolet", then "1969" - the exterior colors will be on page 1, and the different glosses (and applications) of interior colors with PPG codes will be on page 2. :)

Thanks John!
That's a big help! There should be a new page on this site with helpful links like this.
