I'm looking at an X77 car that has just been restored. Problem is I really don't like the look of cars without style trim. Would you even consider putting style trim on a high end restored X77? Give me your pros, cons and opinions.
-
Nope, never.
Not all cars were all shiny. :)
-
Definately not.
-
No Way. Find an X33 car that is an original X33 if you want more trim. :)
-
Well....so far I'm getting just the response I thought I would get and I also agree. Strange thing is I probably see more non style trim cars that are restored with the style trim once they are restored.
-
I'm getting convinced that my 68 Z didn't come with the style trim and has been added. If this is so, I am taking it all off and selling it. I like it, but if it's not the way it was made, I don't want it. It's also kind of a PITA.
-
Just makes people doubt the authenticity of the car, IMHO.
-
It's Van's 714 car he's asking about.
Really nice car, and style trim isnt something that can be changed back easily if someone wanted to.
-
i had put all the style trim pieces on my x-77 car back in the 80's, except the qtr louvers. i spent alot of money taking it all off. DONT DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

on a high end X77??? No way!
-
An x77 with a flat hood and no spoilers to me is like a super model with ugly clothing, no makeup, with no jewelry .Not to mention flat........,you know.
I added style trim, and ducted hood to an x77 JL8. No regrets here.
This is just my opinion.

was your x77 an original jl8 car?
-
Don't add style trim!
-
WOW! talk about bringing back the dead. :D
-
nothing wrong that, but I never got an answer to my question if Chris Pisane has a x77 jl8 car originally or not. I do agree with the rest of the board that if you buy a X77 car you should not put the trim on, there are plenty of X33 cars out there, just get one of those if you like the trim. My issue is I only like the roof rail trim and the small trim on the taillights, I don't like any of the other trim. They made 20,000 of these cars other the jl8 option, you can get just about any kind of Z you want. Even the RS cars are easy to get, if thats what you like. I would say the hardest thing to come across is probably just original unmolested cars.
-
If you like it put it on,after all its your car!
-
I think the taillights, and head lights would be easy, possibly the roof rail trim although the paint may need to be touched up if removed. I wouuld hesitate with the other pieces, because of the modifications to switch it back if you decided to sell the car. More guys it sems are going after originiality these days

Since he hasn't posted in almost two years, shoot him a P.M.
