Title: 68 Z28 MANUAL STEERING
Post by: 302V8 on February 28, 2008, 09:04:35 PM
A question for the  camaro steering experts.  I want to know if my 68 z28 has the right parts on it for the quick ratio steering.   the steering box is a #5679142 manual box,  right now about 6 turns lock to lock,    the steering arms are #3902520 and #3902519  and i replace the pitman arm long ago with an aftermarket  which looks to measure about 5.25,    now if i found a long pitman arm #3953225 , would my steering  system be back to factory fast ratio?

I not sure about your quick ratio steering question, but I have documented the above casting numbers (with the 519 steering arm being the left one) on several original '68 Z/28s.     :)

thanks for the info guys, thats very helpful,  here is one more question for some of the 68 z28 owners out there,  if you have the same set up as i do   how many turns of the steering wheel from lock to lock on your cars?   mine is about 6 turns, but i have the wrong pitman arm.   thanks

A little bit more than 3 turns of the steering wheel lock to lock.  I would estimate it to be 3-1/8 turns lock to lock.
