Title: Timing chain cover date code
Post by: DaveR on February 20, 2008, 04:01:53 PM
How is the date on a timing cover decoded?  Is it week and year?  i.e.  20 70  is twentieth week of 1970.

It's usually the month and year, but it is very important to note that this is not consistant and many do not have any date stamps at all.

I've also seen date stamps of an unknown format, like 13 49.

Kurt,

Just a guess, but...

13 = a referemce to the plant where the piece was stamped?
49 = 49th week of the year?
