He guys,
I am trying to upgrade to delay wipers on my 69 Camaro by using a 4th gen Camaro wiper motor. However, as you all know, it is extremely common that GM put the delay controls on the turn signal. Can anyone think of and suggest a vehicle that has delay wipers but uses a conventional switch that can be installed on the dash. I am going to visit my local junkyards and see what I can find. If anyone has an idea, let me know. If we can figure this out together I will be happy to share the completed innovation steps for the upgrade. So far I have the motor and the harness from a 4th gen at a cost of $15 for everything. If I can find a switch that will work than I am sure I can configure a delay wiper system that we can all have for under $20.

I'm just going from memory here, but I think an early around 75 Monte Carlo"s and probably others of that vintage had a dash switch. I believe it had a slide control with a twist knod to control delay. Could be mistaken it's been a few years

Current (February) issue of Hemmings Motor News, page 52, an article entitled: "At High Cruise" - how speed became a set and forget matter.
Discusses development of cruise control by Ralph R. Tetor the founder of Perfect Circle who manufactured amongst other things piston rings and one of GM's first cruise control systems - which was basically a mechanical system with a few electrical components. Car in the article with the GM Speed and Cruise Control is a 1962 Chevy Biscayne with a small block. A control knob with "low" and "high" settings was mounted on the dash.

I used to work at a Buick dealership. This option was available in 1974 on the Electra and LeSabre (maybe other years and models too?). Anyway, I do remember the switch was dash mounted. Good luck! :)

I just did a quick search and found the switch I mentioned above on Ebay...

It appears from the listing this switch was also available on the '74 Riviera if your looking for it in junkyards.

Try Chevy and GMC trucks.Make sure to snatch the controller also.

If ya want to go aftermarket, J.C. Whitney sells them.

Could you use a headlight switch to run it? Wire it so when you pull it out, it turns on & use the dome light reastat to control the speed.
-
Second gen Camaros (79 and later for sure) use a dash mounted delay wiper switch.

My wifes 81 Z28 and my 81 Elcamio had the delay wipers with the slide knob that twisted for speed control. Look in a Original Parts Group catalogue
