I have a 69 SS 350 with a single white stripe down the hood and rear deck. I know this was original as I have spoken with the original owner. I am trying to find any other owners that have seen similar paint scheme. Does anybody know if this car came from the factory with the stripe?

Can you post a photo? Motion may have done a single stripe down the center.

No stripe as you described is in the ordering info or assembly manual.

Here is the only pic I have on the computer. This is as I was starting the restoration process.
It should post as an attachment

Possibly done at the dealership??

Do you want to sell it???? and does it have all the original equiptment???
-
Looks familiar. Do you know the name of the original dealer? Photo of similar stripe attached, but I do not know the car owner.

The car was purchased from a dealership in Torrance, California. It was the showroom display model. The dealership is no longer in business.

No I will not sell it. I was my first car. The wife of the original owner and I are close and she is verry happy to see that I am in the process of returning the car to a numbers matching original. I had to stop driving it because it is modified and has a non CARB approved parts and was going to need to get it smogged. I have all of the original parts with the exception of a starter.

An East coast dealer used to include a similar stripe along with high performance upgrades, but I am not aware of any being sold on the West coast.

I have no badging or other indications that would lead me to believe I am the owner of a Motion Camaro. It does not have anything special. It is a rather plain L48 with the single stripe ( or so I believe.)
Tom-
The original owner told me it was the only unit at the showroom with the single stripe. There were several other SS's that were on the lot that had the double stripes. The dealership was Ted Green Chevrolet on Hawthorne. I believe they are currently known as Martin Chevrolet.

It was added by the dealer and did not leave the factory that way.
-
Sounds like a copy of the Motion stripe. I have also seen that stripe with the hockey stick stripes, that one might have started out as an SS before Motion got to it.
Yours looks to be just a little bit wider than the one in my pic, but that could be just my old eyes.
Enjoy it!

Motion did not have a trademark on that center stripe. It had been used in the 60's in racing and on street cars.

SS cars never had the double stripes from the factory - only Z/28's and Pace Cars and Z10's.

Kurt, Just taking notice of the similarity. I also seem to recall a couple of late 60's cutlass with a similar stripe that I beleive did come factory.
