What is the opinion on these? This is ebay auction #460560480. Anybody have a hands on look at them and who is repoing them? This same seller had another pair about 1 1/2 months ago that just didn't add up to me so I emailed and asked if they were used shocks that had been blasted and repainted. I was told that they were NOS, and the winning bidder (not me, I wasn't going there) paid over $1500 for the 4. I own a pair of NOS 851's and 1 NOS 477 that I have had for almost 20 years. What caught my eye was the nut and washer on the bottom of the rear's are painted. The supposed NOS shocks from before also had no code tags on them. Mine do. If I was selling mine I would make sure you saw the tags.

D&R is repro'ing them. Bet these are those repro parts. Nice lookers, not useable for driving.....

Thanks Kurt. I didn't know they were not for use on the road. Any comments on having used originals rebuilt by Apple Hydraulics?

Years ago I sold a pair of used, original rear shocks from my '69 Z/28. They still had life in them and I wish that I had kept them now. My current Z/28 is missing the original rear shocks but it still has the original fronts. They don't ride too bad. So, the repro spirals are not recommended for occasional driving?

Never heard of anyone rebulding monotube shocks, but I know Apple rebuilds the old lever-arm Armstrong and Houdialle shocks - different animals.

I have repro spirals, and I have to say that these are the roughest-riding shocks I have ever driven a car on.
The rear ones almost don't have any give at all............
Incredibly hard-riding shocks....

John: It seeems to me I have an ad from Apple (maybe 10 years ago?) staing that they could. I'd have to look and see if I could find it or I could just call and ask.
