Title: Trim Tag VIN correlation
Post by: jdv69z on December 21, 2007, 02:48:33 PM
Does a 69 Norwood trim tag with build date 02D correlate to VIN 614044? CRG chart shows end of Feb as approx 607164. Almost 7,000 units difference? Is this a significant difference?

Remember that the body build date code refers to the day the raw stampings were welded together on the Framing Line in the Body Shop, and the production records by VIN number refer to when the finished car came off the line at Chevrolet about three days later.

My 02D car (606402) came off the line on February 26th or 27th and was shipped on the 28th according to the Canadian records, so it probably started in the Body Shop on Monday the 24th. If a car started in the Body Shop on the 28th (last day of the 02D week), it would show in the Chevrolet production records as March production (not February), as it would be produced off the line at Chevrolet on March 5th.

My 02D was probably started Friday. VIN N613xxx.
