Title: Another Quadrajet question: studs or bolts on the rear 69 SS 350
Post by: 9T4Z on December 14, 2007, 11:31:34 PM
I've seen Q-Jets held down by a nut on stud on the rear.  I also remember seeing individual bolts, not stud/nuts, on the rear two fasteners.

Anyone know if the studs/nuts were earlier or later and or when the carb was held down by bolts only?

regards and thanks for piping in...

I don't think I have ever seen a factory Q-jet held down on the back by a bolt. I had these cars when new and always saw 2 nuts on the back base plate.  Sam

Sam has it right on the money - studs with nuts on the back, bolts on the front.

I concur.  Same goes for the '68 model year.  I just checked a Rochester 4MV carburetor (7028212 DH / 1188) I pulled off (back in 1978) a 1968 RS/SS with 350cid/295hp (L48) engine.  It too has studs/nuts in the rear and hex bolts (5/16" - 18 x 3.5" with an "A" cast on the head) on the front.
