Need an owners manual for my 69 and it seems like there are an awful lot of people out there that say they are selling original ones. Are there any definitive "tells"??
-
The factory had several reprints with dates during the year. The repro probably does not have more than 1 date. Just a guess, but I bet JohnZ knows.
-
I have the original owners manual from my Z10. The car was built 05A. Page 1. copyright 1968. Second Edition December 1968.
Part No. 3955544
Hope that helps. :)

The reproduction owner's manuals don't have the "HELM" pages in them. ;)

Originals have different stock paper inserts in them.

Both my owner's manual and warranty booklet have 2nd edition 1967. Warranty part# 3936265 and OM 3940153.

What is HELM?
-
HELM was the publisher for Chevrolet literature.
I have 4 OE owners manuals.
1st edition August 1968 p/n #3955543
2nd edition December 1968 p/n #3955544
Both editions have an emissions equipment insert between pages 42 & 43. It is printed on yellow paper and the pages are not numbered. The 2nd edition was being furnished as late as 06A.

Mine won't help - it's the Canadian version, P/N 732970, First Edition, August 1968, printed in Canada - also have the bi-lingual warranty folder, P/N 732967, Second Edition, 9/68.

The green/yellowish? cover (I'm going from memory) booklet which would usually be in the glove box? I do not have any original paperwork for my 69 z, but I do have that. I can give it a look see if needed. What should I look for? As I recall, it is still in the plastic pouch it came in, with the key on it? (again from memory)

I have had guys question the date all the time because of the 5th week thing.

Never mind. I missed the 1968 part. :-[
It started out as a question on 1969 manual and ended up in 1968.

So this is a definitive tell for the 69 manual? The original has to have yellow pages in the center? How many pages?
Thanks,
Jerry
