Title: 68 convert trans swap from auto
Post by: topless68 on December 06, 2007, 05:53:34 PM
Does anyone know the location of the shifter hole in the tunnel? I need to cut a hole in the stock location and would only like to cut once.

I'm swaping motor/trans from my 68 convertible. The car came with 327 2speed auto. I'm putting in an LS motor with a tremec 5 speed. I'm considering using classic chevy's kit and the shifter will locate to the stock hole position.

Thanks. PS. This is my first Camaro and my goals may be a little lofty.

If yer gonna butcher a cherry '68 convertible--or any 1st-Gen Camaro--get out the tape measure and do it the hard way. I spent hours repairing a gaping hole in my '68's transmission tunnel where some IDIOT had cut it out in the '80s for a Mr. Gasket Vertical Gate shifter. Original 1st-Gen cars with intact floorboards are becoming more rare everyday--please don't hack yours up--especially since it's a rare convertible.
