Title: Help Finding Part?
Post by: DAL777 on December 01, 2007, 03:00:24 PM
Anyone know where to get and or part #'s for the hose, grommet, and connector for an L-48.
It is the hose that goes from the crankcase air filter in the air cleaner assembly to the passenger side valve cover near the rear.

It is on page 101,   6  C8 in the factory assembly manual.....parts # 10, 16, and 17.  I have not seen the correct parts offered in catalogs.

Thanks

Paul,
I looked in the catalog.  All they show is an elbow and a hose.  All of the other catalogs list the same stuff.  Nobody has the connector that goes into the valve cover that the hose hooks to.

They are there.  Do a "valve cover grommet" search and you will find them.     ;)

Still cant find the piece ("connector") that goes between the hose and grommet.

The "connector" (as per the AIM) I believe you are looking for can be found be doing a "air cleaner elbow" search.     :)

If you look at the picture, it is not an elbow.   (You can buy an elbow)
It is a straight piece.

Dal..   the connector to the valve cover IS a 90 degree elbow that fits into the grommet on the pass rear valve cover.  Be careful of what hose you order.  There is a hose there for the cowl inducted air cleaner that has less of a curve to it.

You can find these parts at Ricks as well.

good luck

Dal,
You are correct, it is a small straight connector as it is shown on page 101 of the '69 AIM.
Here is a shot of mine, you can't see the connector but it is like the one in the AIM. I could not find anywhere to buy it repop and after about 9 months of searching I found an orig. one at  Calisle for $1.00. I know someone who found a hose at the auto parts store that matched pretty well and just cut the bottom off the 90 degree tube to make the connection.

I found the connector at a local chevy dealer.  $5.31   !!!!!!!!!

Hose and grommet discontinued in 1988.  Not available.

Dal... oops

I have the L48 as well and assumed they were all the same.  Open element vents differently!

nice to see you found what you needed.  8)

Yea, it is just a straight
piece of pipe.  I could not
believe my local chevy dealer had
them.  I bought three!  The hose
is not available so I got a radiator by pass
hose that works great.
