Can anybody help me with the right number? I am looking to find the right part number for a Calif. 67 camaro with a 396-A.I.R. and turbo 400.
Thanks

I'm not sure what part # you are asking for, but the engine suffix code stamped on the block pad would be MZ and the block casting # would be 3902406.

Ed I wasn't very plain in what i was asking for ( I am new at this) but anyway i was looking for the carb number for this engine I found the carb number but now i need to find out if it is the 1st, 2nd or 3rd type. The build date of my engine is 214.

The build date of my engine is 214. Bernie
Where did you see the "214"? The block casting date is just forward of the starter, near a freeze plug, and the engine assembly date and suffix is stamped on the front block pad.

Bernie,
I think all the smog Q- Jet carbs for a 396 Camaro have the same part number... Are you looking for a possible date tag?.. That's the round sucker on the side?
For a February 14 stamped motor, you might be looking for A7 or maybe a B7 round tag.

Hi i appreciate the feed back. The 214 came off of my POP which was TO214MZ. Rich came up with 3 sets of numbers for my car but also came up with 3 different types and now i am wondering what type i should have on my car. I don't know if by type he means Rochester, Carter etc.
Thanks

Did you see this: http://www.camaros.org/carb.shtml?

Kurt
Yes that is were my question comes from. The information is all there but Rich mentions 1st, 2nd & 3rd type after the ID number and that is what i am trying to find out what that means. For my set up there are 3 different ID numbers.

I'm not sure anyone knows the transition dates for that carb. :( There is the chance that you will only find one of those three part #'s with the correct dates for your build date.
The engine date is irrelevant; the carb was put on in the assembly plant so the body build date is relevant.

My car has an 04A build date
