I am trying to decode the numbers that are cast into the end of my driveshaft.
The numbers are 3790024.
The chevrolet symbol is also cast under those numbers.
I also have found some yellow stripes towards the middle of the driveshaft that go around
the shaft itself.
Are the numbers, the chevrolet symbol, and the stripes consistent with an original
driveshaft.
The yoke ends are also offset.
I have included some pictures to help the decoding.

Found driveshaft in my garage that supposedly came from early camaro with # 5675111 and E below. Any info is welcome.

I've never seen the casting numbers and emblem like that. That's wild

What does M&M mean?
Maybe those casting numbers are GM? I don't know myself. As for the Chevrolet
symbol, I thought that was odd as well. That's why I posted the pictures I thought
that someone may know if the casting number is GM and if GM included the symbol
in the casting process.

There is driveshaft# 3945540 listed in assembly manual.

I have the same question. Hopefully someone can decipher the casting numbers.
Does any one know if these components are date coded?
I have a Norwood 69Z built 1st week of May. I have been holding off painting ID strips on my shaft until I can be sure if/what was done during my build date time frame.
One end my shaft (picture "Yoke 2"), I found the casting numbers roughly positioned as:
67 or 87? 924 (could not clearly make out a 67 or 87)
Chevy Bow Tie with an "M" in the middle of it, and 87-1 just to the right
The other yoke (picture "Yoke 1"):
05A W C
258 with an oval and parallelogram symbols to the right.
The spline yoke (picture "Yoke"):
G 17? 54? (could not clearly make out a 17 and 54)

By the way, how far down the shaft, from the centerline of the front yoke, is the stripe? Then what is the width of your yellow stripe?

Those are forgings, not castings, and I've never seen any forging with a date code on it; forging dies were solid steel, with no provision to insert date markers. The ones with the Bow Tie are from Chevrolet-Detroit Forge, and the others are probably from Spicer or Dana.

If this is a original z28 driveshaft would the 1969 L78/M20/410 use the same driveshaft casting number 3790024? If not what would the Casting be?

I measured the stripe from the centerline of the front drive shaft yoke (where the u-joint would be pressed in).
Measurement was from the center where the u-joint would be pressed. That measurement is approximately
23 1/2 - 23 3/4 inches from the front yoke. The width of the stripe is approximately 1 1/4. It looks like the
stripe has eroded over time or that maybe their were two stripes side by side. Again I'm not sure that these
are factory stripes, I didn't do it. I found them after cleaning the drive shaft.
