Title: 69Z Cold Air Hood Option
Post by: L78 steve on October 18, 2007, 02:41:19 PM
Does someone have a pic.of the firewall hole location for the C/I wire harness? Also was this hole stamped or punched.I have an extra hole that was punched (metal curled inward)in the firewall and trying to figure out if it is factory or back yard engineered.

The factory hole for the ZL2 harness grommet was made with a small hole saw.

Also, if you look in the '69 assembly manual in the ZL2 section, it shows the hole location (above the fuse block) and size of the hole.

I have a hole above the fuse block with a 2 wire w/grommet.Both ends of the wires were cut. What are the ZL2 wire colors? The car came to me with the ZL2 hood but none of the other pieces.I guess you all know what I'm hoping.

I checked car and the two wire colors are pink and light brown and the grommet is just above the fuse box.If they are not ZL2 wires what are they for?

Steve,

Other than the ZL-2 wire hole, there are other indicators for you to look for as well.

1) Throttle rod upper pivot arm with a welded tab to mount the activation switch.

2) Screw holes in the passenger side firewall where the relay was mounted.

Nuch

Hey,Steve. You are still alive. Why don't you come over and take a look?I was wrong when I said both ends were cut.I found the outer harness rapped up behind the brake booster.Pink wire, tan wire with a rubber boot on the end.Anyone know what its for?Its not oil pressure or coolant temp those are both accounted for.

The pink and tan wires with the rubber boot connector goes on the switch on the accelerator lever that activates the relay and flapper solenoid.

Neat.I have a ZL2 car.Now all I have to do is locate all the pieces. Is the repro.set-up any good or should I hunt down all original?
