Title: Repairing/Replacing 68 Right Rear Window Regulator
Post by: Danos68 on September 19, 2007, 11:05:22 PM
One of my son's buddies cranked down on the rear window handle and appears to have broken the regulator since the window no longer moves with the handle and is in an unusual position and able to be lifted up and down by the top of the window. Anyone changed one of these out? What's the level of difficulty? Any tips? Thanks for advice/help!!!

Dano -

The procedure is very simple.  Of course you will have to remove the rear seat in order to remove the trim panel (also very easy).  My only tip is to lightly scribe around the regulator mounting hardware in order to install the new regulator as close as possible in position to the original regulator.  This should minimize any adjustments you might have to make.  If you have access to a 1968 Fisher Body service manual, the procedure is listed step by step.  Good luck!

You'll find out when you take it apart, but mine did this and it was just the nut that held the window to the arms that came loose.

Could be the center guide roller is gone.
