My '68 vert does not have the original motor & I have always suspected that the tranny is not original either, so, this past weekend I crawled underneath to get the VIN off of it.
It is: 19K565620
I'm thinking that the 'K' is for the Kansas City assembly plant and this trans came from a '69 Chevelle.
Would that be correct??
Thanks
Jerry

You're correct on the assembly plant being Kansas City, MO. The transmission is out of a Chevelle or an El Camino. :)

Hi, what is the stamp date stamped into the side of your main case?

Thank you for confirming.
Here is the stamping code: S9D26

Here is the stamping code: S9D26
S = Saginaw 3-speed
9 = 1969
D = April
26 = day of month
So, your Saginaw 3-speed manual transmission was assembled on April 26, 1969.
